The Lede

Replit is shipping product at such a blistering pace that even a fresh $400 million in funding at a $9 billion valuation reads almost like a footnote in the Forbes cover story on CEO Amjad Masad and their impact on democratizing software creation. The company just unveiled Agent 4 — the fourth generation of its autonomous coding agent in two years — that amplifies creative collaboration and design in the development process.

The company started in 2016 as a tool for professionals. One decade later, it is pioneering how anyone can build software. That transition didn’t happen overnight. It required countless intentional design choices — including ones as small as replacing the word “deploy” with “publish” — especially since most people aren’t versed in dev-speak.

We recently spoke with Replit’s other co-founder — Haya Odeh, VP of Design and Amjad’s wife — about the design decisions behind making software creation feel intuitive for millions of new builders. She also shares an inside look at design culture at Replit, and the taste and skills that all designers still need, even with AI at our disposal.

Partner Perspectives

The Vitality Stack

Healthcare innovations have long been focused on longevity. But living longer isn’t the same as living better; in fact, the proportion of our lives spent in poor health has remained the same.

In her latest piece, Jomayra Herrera introduces the Vitality Stack, a framework for how we invest across three interconnected layers — Prevention, Care, and Meaning — that power not just longer lives, but fuller ones. It ties together different healthcare areas — biomarkers, diagnostics, deprescribing, gut health and the workforce — that we’ve shared over the years.

New Healthcare Advisor: Prakash Patel

We’re thrilled to welcome Prakash Patel as our newest healthcare advisor. An orthopedic surgeon turned entrepreneur, he has built and led half a dozen companies, including GuideWell and Elevance, and brings deep insight into scaling healthcare innovation across our investments and portfolio companies.

Coral Care, the platform where families access in-home, insurance-covered pediatric speech, occupational, and physical therapy, raised $13 million in a Series A round led by Haymaker Ventures. With over 400 licensed clinicians in its network, families get help in under 10 days, and 90% of them report progress within 3 months. We invested in its pre-seed round in 2023, co-led the Seed a year later, and are thrilled to partake in this latest round.

NationGraph, the AI intelligence platform for businesses selling to public sector agencies, raised $18 million in a Series A round led by Menlo Ventures. Surfacing data and signals from over 110,00 state, local and educational agencies, the company is leveling the playing field for public procurement. We’re proud to return for this round after investing in their Seed in 2024.

Pensive, an AI-assisted grading and feedback system for higher education, raised $6.8 million in a Seed round led by Mayfield. Already it has graded over 3 million questions, saving hours for thousands of instructors from leading universities, including UC Berkeley, Columbia and Arizona State. We first invested last year in its Pre-seed and returned for this round.

  • Is the Internet AI? Glad you asked. GTPZero launched a real-time dashboard tracking the volume of AI-generated content on the web. This comes on the heels of their AI Vision Chrome extension, which automatically flags AI content in your social feeds.

  • Not getting enough sleep? Evolve, the company behind The Podcast App, has launched Rest, an app that uses AI and behavioral methods to improve your ZzzZs.

  • Check out Sira’s video series showing how AI helps small business owners scale by taking mundane HR work off their plates to give them time back to focus on the work that matters.

  • Chronic absenteeism is one of the most persistent challenges in K-12. Newsela acquired Everyday Labs (both Reach portfolio companies) to help districts get ahead of it.
